Born in Indore in 1988, Akanksha began as a Kingfisher cabin crew member before modeling and acting. She made her film debut in the Tamil action-comedy Alex Pandian (2013). Her Hindi breakthrough came with Madhur Bhandarkar’s Calendar Girls (2015) as Nandita Menon. She also shone in Malayalam, Kannada, and Tamil films, including Action (2019), and became a household name as Goddess Parvati in the TV series Vighnaharta Ganesh.

Recent and ongoing projects include the Hindi thriller So Long Valley (2025), Bhojpuri film Rishtey, web series like Dons & Darlings, Rose Garden, and Inspector Avinash, plus music videos and more.
